ICT for Librarians

I met with Rhona Arthur of SLIC this morning to discuss a new IT qualification aimed at librarians. Rhona has received funding from the Big Lottery Fund to improve the IT skills of UK librarians - and she wants SQA to provide a qualification.

It's early days but at this stage the goal is to produce an Advanced Diploma (maybe called Advanced Diploma in ICT for Librarians). Ted Hastings will lead the Qualification Design Team.

This is an exciting project for SQA. The award would be UK-wide (potentially 22,000 candidates across the UK) and the level of the award is likely to be high (SCQF 8-10).
